Asus launches world’s first liquid cooled laptop ROG GX700

Asus yesterday launched the world's first liquid cooled laptop, ROG GX700, which it had announced at IFA 2015, for Rs4,12,990 in India.

The laptop will be available on a per-request basis. The company also launched the ROG Strix GL502 laptop starting from Rs 1,27,990.

The Asus ROG GX700, which comes packed in a suitcase boasts its own detachable ROG-exclusive Hydro Overclocking System cooling module. The GX700 is powered by the 6th generation Intel Core i7-6820HK, which is a four-core eight-thread processor clocked at 2.7GHz with a Turbo frequency of 3.6GHz. It is capable of supporting 64GB of RAM and in terms of storage it houses a 512GB SSD RAM.

Being a top drawer gaming laptop, it comes with the Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 graphics card (with 8GB RAM) and a 17-inch 4K UHD display which supports Nvidia G-Sync for smoother visuals. According to Asus, the Hydro Overclocking System allows overclocking of the CPU up to 40 per cent and the 64GB DDR4 memory can be overclocked up to 43 per cent.

The GX700 comes with a liquid cooling dock based on a custom self-sealing valve design, dual 92mm radiators and a pump. It also has traditional cooling which could be run without the liquid cooling dock.

Asus also launched another gaming laptop, ROG Strix GL502, in its Republic of Gamers series priced Rs1,27,990.

The laptop boasts a 15.6-inch Full HD display and comes with an Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor clocked at 2.6 GHz. The laptop features 8GB DDR4 RAM and carries 1TB HDD along with 256GB SSD in terms of internal storage.

The Strix GL502 is available on the Asus website and other offline stores.

Peter Chang, regional head (South Asia) and country manager at Asus, said at the event, "We have about 30 per cent market share of gaming laptops in India. With continued focus in the segment, we are aiming to achieve 50 per cent share of it by the next year. In gaming desktops segment, we are the major player."
