The mature Asia-Pacific public cloud spend is expected to grow by 14 per cent to $7.4 billion in 2015 compared to last year's $6.5 billion, according to a new report by US information technology research firm Gartner.

The mature Asia-Pacific includes Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore and South Korea, as assessed by analysts, but excludes China and India considering that both the economic powers are at crossroads in their technological development.

According to the research, the fastest-growing segments in the cloud market in 2015 are cloud management and security services, as more enterprise and government users embrace cloud services, resulting in an estimated growth of around 30 per cent at $265 million.

''Many countries in the mature Asia-Pacific Japan region have solid reliable telecommunications infrastructure and relatively advanced technology usage profiles,'' Gartner research vice president Ed Andersen said.

"Despite challenges in the global economy, we expect consistent and stable growth to continue through to 2018," he added.

The research firm predicts a further jump of over 50 per cent in total public cloud services spending in mature market to $11.8 billion in 2018.

According to Gartner, the biggest segment of the public cloud services market in the mature region by 2018 will be cloud advertising with 52.5 per cent share. Software as a service (SaaS) will make up 21.5 per cent, infrastructure as a service (IaaS) will be 9.8 per cent, and business process as a service (BPaaS) will represent 9.2 per cent.

Cloud management and security services will comprise 4 per cent, while platform as a service (PaaS) will represent the remaining 3 per cent of the overall market.

Analysts believe that trade bloc agreements such as the ASEAN Economic Integration 2015 and the Trans Pacific Partnerships are likely to foster public cloud usage as a result of regional integration of businesses and services.

Asia Cloud Computing Association's cloud readiness index 2014 places Japan in first position, followed by New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea, defining the six countries as 'ever-ready leaders'.

These nations lead by fostering innovation, and fresh approaches towards next generation and cloud computing services, including providing excellent broadband quality, protecting intellectual property and innovative government policies.

The second group 'dedicated improvers' includes Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand and Philippines.

China and India are ranked 11th and 13th respectively in the 14-nation list kept in the 'steady developing' group along with Indonesia and Vietnam.

In last April Forrester's research forecast the global cloud market to reach at least $191 billion by the end of the decade.
