A web hacker claiming to be from Pakistan has targeted the web site of state-run telecom service provider Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL).

The hacker, suspected to be operating from Australia, also left a message on the Mumbai web site of MTNL, which read: ''MrCreepy Was Here.

Napsters CrEw. Happy Independence Day Pakistan.

http://Facebook.com/m3creepy. Greets: SEEKER, Dr.FREAK, MKHAN SWATI, And All Pakistani Hackers :D''.

In a Facebook post the hacker 'MrCreepy' also claimed to have targeted the web sites of Pune Traffic Police (punetrafficpolice.gov.in) and janwani.org.

''Lol Just rooted MTNL Server - feeling excited'', the hacker, who seemed to be celebrating Pakistan's independence day, stated in another post, dated 14 August.

However, MTNL's corporate website and its portal for Delhi customers were not affected, Telecom Talk, which first reported the incident said.

Hacking group Anonymous had, last year, disrupted MTNL's corporate web site to protest against "censorship" of internet in the country. However, MTNL's city-specific web sites (for Delhi and Mumbai) were working at that time.
