Netflix says online video service fully restored
26 Dec 2012
Netflix Inc, an American provider of on-demand internet streaming media, said access to its movies and television shows have been fully restored after a disruption caused by Amazon.com Inc's web storage and computing system.
Netflix , the world's biggest video-streaming service, said the blockage was caused by issues with Amazon Web Services, a business that's separate from its online retail store.
Online retailer Amazon also rents data storage and computing resources to other businesses and organisations.
This has blocked online content service to many customers in the Americas from around 3:30 pm New York time on Monday until late Christmas Eve, according to Joris Evers, a spokesman for Netflix.
Subscription and on-demand services are major sources of revenue for Netflix. Streaming services made up 70 per cent of Netflix's sales in the third quarter of 2012.
California-based Netflix makes available online video content around most parts of the world.
