A wrist band effectively turns users' wrist it into a smartphone every time they twist their wrist by projecting a tablet interface onto the users arm is the latest addition to wearable tech.

The Cicret Bracelet, which has been in the making for six months, features a pico projector and eight proximity sensors pointing towards the user's forearm, PTI reported.

The wrist band operates as a standalone device and on activation by a twist of the wrist, projects an Android interface onto the user's arm.

The proximity sensors detect the location of the user's finger or fingers and them to interact with the interface as they would any other Android device, according to 'Gizmag'.

With the device, users would be able to send and receive emails, browse the web and play games.

It would also be possible for users to pair it with an existing smartphone, answer incoming phone calls and activate the speakerphone functionality on their smartphone.

The Cicret Bracelet comes with an accelerometer and a vibration module, along with an LED for notifications.

Connectivity would be provided by WiFi, Bluetooth and a Micro USB port and it would be expected to be offered in 16 GB and 32 GB models.

The cost of the device would be $400 and it is expected to reach the mass market within a year and a half.

Meanwhile, gizmag.com reported though there were potential advantages to turning ordinary objects (or, in this case, limbs) into mobile devices, but projected touch screens typically lacked the responsiveness and visual clarity of the glass screens on devices. The projected keyboard, for instanced delivered a poor typing experience.

According to Cicret co-founder Guillaume Pommier who spoke to Gizmag, the first prototype was due for completion in about three weeks time.
