Smaller Indian cities to emerge as the next outsourcing hubs

Silicon Valley: Lesser-known Indian cities such as Kochi and Visakhapatnam have the best potential to emerge the next big outsourcing destination for major international corporations, says outsourcing consulting organisation Alsbridge.

Alsbridge, which was formed in 2005 with the merger of the European BPO and shared services consultancy, ALS Consulting, and US-based outsourcing consulting firm, the Trowbridge Group, India continues to offer outsourcing hubs outside the globally known cities of Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.

According to the firm's internal report, India offers another set of top 10 up-and-coming cities with the potential to emerge as BPO hubs are Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mangalore, Nagpur, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Visakhapatnam.

These cities were chosen based on several factors including population, accessibility, education of the workforce and existing companies who have businesses in these cities.

The Dallas-based firm, whose founding partners include former leaders from Accenture, Capgemini, EDS, Ernst & Young, KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers, ranks Ahmedabad as India's most attractive upcoming city, with Hewlett-Packard and Oracle already having established their presence their.
