AC Nielsen rates Ruchi Soya as fastest growing FMCG in India

Mumbai: According to a syndicated retail audit research by AC Nielsen for the April 2004-March 2005, Ruchi Soya Industries Limited (RSIL) has been rated as the fastest growing FMCG company in the country with an annual growth of 62 per cent. The overall growth in the FMCG sector for the same period was 6.3 per cent. RSIL, an agri-business company with an annual turnover of Rs3,868 crore, is the flagship of the Rs11, 000-crore Ruchi Group of Industries.

The survey spans across all sectors from durables, media, pharma, social, business to business, industrial, political and FMCG across retail segments in 24 towns. This market research is further customised according to the category, brand, subgroups, volume, value and distribution.

Commenting on the Nielsen rating, Dinesh Shahra, managing director, RSIL, said, "We are proud and delighted that RSIL has proved itself in the FMCG market. In order to build our healthy brands, we have spent considerably this past year and will spend substantially more in the future."

Established in 1986, Ruchi Soya is India's largest producer and supplier of vegetable oil and Soya foods. RSIL moved from commodity to the branded portfolio model, which have yielded a CAGR of 26 per cent over the past five years from Rs2.5 billion in FY '99 to around Rs10 billion for FY '05 and now account for 25 per cent of overall revenues.
