Gurunath Meiyappan, 'principal' of the Chennai Super Kings team, will be produced in court in Mumbai today after being arrested on Friday night in connection with the spot-fixing scandal in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament.

Gurunath MeiyappanMeiyappan, son-in-law of Board for Control in India N Srinivasan, was earlier questioned jointly with Vindoo Dara Singh, son of the late wrestler-actor Dara Singh, who has already admitted his involvement with bookies.

Police said Gurunath has admitted to knowing Vindoo. Unlike on Friday, Gurunath was ''cooperating'' with investors today, reports said.

The Chennai Super Kings boss was "evasive" and "non-cooperative" during interrogations on Friday night, when he was grilled by Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Himanshu Roy for about two-and-a half hours.

The fate of BCCI chief Srinivasan now hangs in the balance, particularly as he is known to be close to his son-in-law. The two were on holiday in Mudurai together when the arrest notice was issued for Gurunath.

Srinivasan is now in Mumbai, and it is reported that the BCCI will hold an informal meeting today.

However, a final decision on his future will only be taken after the IPL final on Sunday, which features Gurunath's Chennai Super Kings and the Mumbai Indians. Srinivas will reportedly fly to Kolkata for the fixture.

In an interesting development, the official website of the Twenty20 league has removed the Fair Play Award table from its pages - intriguingly Chennai Super Kings and the Rajasthan Royals, the two teams most tainted by the fixing scam, were at the top of the list.
