Former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, under arrest since 15 October over charges of corruption and illegal land deals, is free once again as the Karnataka High Court today granted him bail in the third of the cases against him.

The high court had already granted bail to Yeddyurappa in one of the two graft cases earlier this month, but held back its decision on the third case (See: Yeddyurappa gets bail in one case, hearing in other on Friday).

The 68-year-old BJP leader was arrested by the Lokayukta police over allegations of using his term as chief minister to help his family get prime property at throwaway prices. He has been in Bangalore's central prison since 19 October after spending the first three days in two hospitals.

Yeddyuappa faces five cases of corruption and illegal land deals. He has sought anticipatory bail in them.

The five cases were filed in January by two Bangalore advocates Sirajin Basha and N K Balaraj.

Justice B V Pinto allowed the bail application on the condition that he furnishes a bond for Rs5 lakh and does not attempt to tamper with evidence.
