Delhi govt to take TV channels to court over doctored JNU videos

The Delhi government on Monday initiated legal proceedings against at least four television news channels for allegedly airing doctored footage of anti-national slogans being raised at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), on 9 February even as the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) initiated an investigations against the chief minister's staff.

The Delhi administration instructed its legal cell to initiate the legal process against the erring channels, following the submission of a report by a fact-finding team headed by the District Magistrate of New Delhi.

The Delhi government will seek the examination of a complaint against the news channels under section 200 of the Criminal Procedure Code, said officials.
