Tamil film Kanchivaram bags best feature film, best actor awards

Tamil feature film `Kanchivaram' was adjudged the best feature film at the 55th National Film Awards for 2007. Kanchivaram actor Prakash Raj was also declared the best actor for his sensible multi-layered portrayal of a weaver.

Umashree was declared the best actress for her role in Kannada film Gulabi Talkies. Gulabi Talkies was also declared the best feature film in Kannada.

Master Sharad Goekar was adjudged the best child actor for his role in Marathi feature film Tingya.

Adoor Gopalakrishnan won the best director award for best Malayalam feature film for `Naalu Pennungal'. The film also won the best actor award in Malayalam forB.Ajith Kumar.

Producer-director Shivajee Chandrabhushan won the Indira Gandhi award for best first film of a director for his Hindi film `Frozen' for what the jury said "bringing to life with warmth and vivacity life in those distant desolate snow bound heights where existence itself is a fulltime challenge."

`Chak De India' was adjudged the best Hindi feature film providing `wholesome entertainment' while `Taare Zameen Par' was adjudged the best feature film for `family welfare'. `Taare Zameen Par' also got award for best playback singer.
