BEML secures Rs2 billion export orders for mining equipment

Bangalore: Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML), India's leading heavy equipment manufacturer has secured export orders valued at Rs2.07 billion, for its hydraulic excavators, rear dump trucks and bulldozers. BEML will export this equipment to South East Asian neighbour Indonesia.

One of the orders is for 93 equipment pieces, valued at Rs1.58 billion, and has been placed by Fajar Bumi Sakti, Indonesia. The Indonesian firm plans to deployment this equipment at its open cast coal mines, which are one of the largest in the world. A pilot batch of eight pieces had been deployed at KPC Mines, and the equipments will also be deployed at two other mines, Tengarong Mines and Tabang Mines of Indonesia, according to a statement by BEML.

The second order for 34 equipments pieces valued at Rs490 million, placed by Singapore's Far East Resources and Mining Co, for their coal mines at Tarakon and Indonesia..

BEML now has plans to set up a sales office that will double up as a repair facility and spares depot at Balikpapan, Indonesia, within three months to put in place a 24x7 after-sales support infrastructure for its customers. BEML exports to over 50 countries, and is focusing on increasing its market penetration in Asia Pacific, West Asia and Africa.

BEML's statement says that it plans to achieve a sale of Rs36 billion in 2008-09.
