HCC bags Rs229-crore Wainganga hydel project

Hindustan Construction Company said on Tuesday it has won an order worth Rs229 crore from Maharashtra's Vidarbh Irrigation Development Corporation to install, supply and commission a 4x6 mw hydel power plant on the Wainganga river near Nagpur, the company said in a statement.

The project, part of the Gosikhurd hydel scheme, will be completed in 36 months, with a subsequent maintenance and operation period of 24 months.

Under the contract, HCC will be responsible for engineering, procurement and construction of all items, including civil and associated infrastructure works comprising supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the elecro-mechanical plant, machinery and hydro-mechanical components like generating units, its release in Mumbai said.

HCC president and chief operating officer COO Vinayak Deshpande said, "HCC is proud to have built the Gosikhurd spillway and is currently working on the Godazari branch canal. The Gosikhurd hydel scheme further demonstrates our EPC expertise in the hydel power development sector.''
