The Louis XIII de Remy Martin cognac will be available in India.

Priced at Rs 225,000 per decanter, the 40- to 100-year vintage cognac is regarded as "the summit of French refinement in taste."

It has a blend of Grande Chamagne eaux-de-vie, the most prestigious of the six crus classed in the delimited region of Cognac. An eaux-de-vie is a clear, colourless fruit brandy produced by of fermentation and double distillation, with the fruit flavour ususally being very light.

Louis XIII comes in a hand blown crystal decanter, individually numbered and ringed with 24 carats of fine gold. Each decanter requires the skill of 11 craftsmen to create. The original decanter drew its inspiration from a 16th century metal flask. Nowadays, although it is made out of fine crystal, it has retained the same rounded shape.

In 1620, under the reign of Louis XIII, the Rémy Martin family settled in the Cognac region, in the South of France. The prestigious house of Rémy Martin was built in 1724, and the Louis XIII brand was created in 1874.

Around 1200 eaux-de-vie aged 40 to 100 years go into making of Louis XIII Cognac, which leaves a lingeing aftertaste that is aid to lasts for an hour, an exceptional feat, which connoisseurs have likened to a ''fireworks of aromas.''
