The 383rd branch
of South Indian Bank was inaugurated in Coimbatore on 24 June 2002. This is
the 92nd branch in the state. The bank is planning to inaugurate
yet another branch (384th) in Trichy on 26 June 2002. Inaugurating
the branch, South Indian Bank deputy general manager George Davis Thottan
said about 39 per cent of the branches (150 branches) will be interconnected
to the data centre at
Ernakulam before the end of the current fiscal. "The bank proposes to
interconnect 150 ATMs over a span of two years."
