IDBI Bank says it will also offer advisory services to its clientele

Coimbatore: IDBI Bank says along with cash management services, it will also offer advisory services to its clientele.

“We offer structured solutions and derivative products not just for topline corporates, but the small- and medium-sized enterprises as well,” says IDBI Bank head (treasury marketing) Phani Shankar.

Shankar says there is enormous potential in secondary towns such as Coimbatore and Tirupur for such structured risk management solution, as export volumes are high. “As the business grows, there is pressure on the bottomline. We try and make the customer understand that treasury risk management tools hold promise and ensure higher returns. Of course, there is an element of risk.”

About the products that were being offered by the bank, Shankar says: “Currency swaps, for instance, are structured products that help manage exchange and interest rates exposure. This product can be structured to synthetically move liabilities from one currency to another depending on which risks and what costs are acceptable.”
