Micro Inks, Akzo Nobel and Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd, have announced their support to Hindustan Tin Works' (HTWL) Canvironment Week, which began on 10 November.

''The global Canvironment week is the first of its kind. It demonstrates that each of our partners, which includes can makers, brand owners, raw material suppliers, educational institutions, trade associations and others from different parts of the world with varied cultures are environmentally aware, socially responsible and work together towards the same cause of 'Save our Planet'.

''With Hindustan Coca-Cola, Micro Inks and Akzo joining the movement Canvironment week has received a great impetus,'' said Atit Bhatia, president, Canvironment week.

Canvironment Week kicked off with a children's painting competition as a part of pre-movement activity in schools of Mumbai and Delhi on 23 October, 2010.

HTWL had also conducted a campus promotion in association with Indian Institute of Packaging wherein it asked students to make best out of waste artifacts from the metal can scrap / art installation using cans, thus encouraging usage of no waste material.

Under Canvironment Week, 7–10 can banks will be installed with the help of NGO Chintan at approximately 7-10 locations in Delhi.

The population at large would be asked to deposit cans at can banks and the used cans will be sent into recycling. All the revenue thereby generated will be given upfront for the upliftment of the lives of the rag pickers through Chintan.
