Pakistan on Friday announced the cancellation of its trade expo in India as the 18 September attack on the Uri military base in India triggered tension between Pakistan and India.

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) said the trade fair - Aalishan Pakhas - that was scheduled for October in India, stands cancelled considering latest development in the region.

In a statement issued on Friday, TDAP said the expo, aimed at showcasing Pakistani goods in India in September / October, was planned keeping in mind increasing regional trade.

''In this regard, third edition of Aalishan Pakistan was planned in September / October 2016 after successful previous edition in 2012 and 2014,'' the statement said, adding that due to the current situation between Pakistan and India, that were beyond TDAP control, the event planned for 2016 has been called off.

The TDAP held first edition of the event in 2012 and second in 2014, says the announcement.
