The proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and Israel will not be discussed during Commerce and Industry Minister Arun Jaitley''s forthcoming visit to Israel starting from January 13. This was stated by an Israeli Trade and Industry Ministry spokesman "as it was not on the agenda for consultations."

The proposal for FTA had been mooted by Ariel Sharon, Israel''s Prime Minister during his visit to India in September last year.

Signing the FTA would boost bilateral trade, between India and Israel. Israel has similar FTAs with the European Union and the United States.
