Overall it is a very good budget. It's the only good budget presented by Mr Yashwant Sinha in the last four years.

It is very sensible thing that the FM has announced labour reforms and given specific numbers of downsizing the government officials. The removal of the Bank Recruitment Board is also a very welcome move.

However, the only concern is the implementation of the budget. We should be asking for a time table of these proposals and monitoring the implementation very closely. If the government would put in 100 % in implementing this budget there would be major progress in the country.

There are no specific measures to hurt or help any specific industry and that is a commendable move.

Vinay Agarwal chief operating officer BPL Mobile, Maharashtra & Goa:

The budget has set the right tone. The reduction of customs duty on telecom equipment is a welcome step, as is the elimination of surcharge on corporate and individual taxes.

The FM has done well to redistribute the taxation burden by levying service tax on a larger basket of services than at present.

I am very happy with the Finance Minister's initiative of removing excise on Food Products. Removing of excise on food products will give a major boost to the food processing industry in the country and the state.

Food products will no longer remain a luxury item and will be a mass consumption product. This move of the finance minister will also help the horticulture sector and help the development of the agriculture industry in the country.
