Consumer price inflation for agricultural, rural labourers hit 13.43% and 13.27% in November

Consumer price inflation based on the all-India consumer price index for agricultural and rural labourers (CPI-AL and CPI-RL) increased to 13.43 per cent and 13.27 per cent in November 2013, from 12.65 per cent and 12.48 per cent in October 2013, due mainly to rising food prices.

Inflation based on food price index of CPI-AL and CPI-RL stood at 14.73 per cent and 14.54per cent, respectively during November 2013, official data released by the labour ministry on Friday showed.

The consumer price index for agricultural and rural labourers (base: 1986-87=100) increased by 11 points each to 777 points in November 2013.

The rise in index varied from state to state. The index of agricultural labourers recorded an increase, which varied between 1 and 21 points. Haryana with 860 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 631 points stood at the bottom.

In the case of rural labourers, it recorded an increase between 2 and 22 points in 19 states and remained stationary in one state. 

Haryana with 854 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index level of 666 points stood at the bottom.

The index of agricultural labourers index in Bihar recorded the maximum increase of 21 points while the index of rural labourers for Assam recorded the maximum increase of 22 points, mainly due to increase in the prices of wheat atta, maize, milk, vegetables and fruits, firewood, saree (cotton-mill) and doctors' fees.
