Wheat procurement crosses 250 lakh tonnes

Wheat procurement during ongoing rabi marketing season has crossed the mark of 250 lakh tonnes, the ministry of consumer affairs, food and public distribution, today disclosed.

According to the field procurement data received in the ministry, the total procurement by government agencies as on 31 May had touched 25,004,369 lakh tonnes

Thr ministry said Punjab topped the procurement with 10,869,520 tonnes followed by Madhya Pradesh with 6,346,120 tonnes and Haryana 5,872,945 tonnes.

Rajasthan and UP also made significant procurement during the season with 1,227,627 tonnes and 6,74,625 tonnes respectively.
