Anti-corruption activist Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday stepped up his demand for the resignation of law minister Salman Khurshid and vowed to continue with the agitation till the minister was arrested for alleged corruption.

Kejriwal and several of his supporters were detained at a makeshift jail at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium in Bawana in Delhi. The protestors had been picked up on Friday as they were marching towards the prime minister's residence.

The activist, who has launched his own political party, was detained along with other members of India Against Corruption (IAC). While the activists accused the police of beating up the IAC members, the police denied the charges.

Kejriwal has accused a trust run by Khurshid and his wife of irregularities. But Louise, the minister's wife, on Saturday described Kejriwal's allegations as ''baseless innuendos'' and charged him of indulging in politics on the shoulders of the disabled.

The IAC demonstrators included many disabled people.

According to Louise, Kejriwal was now no more a social activist, but had become ''an ambulance chaser.''
