India's imports climb 42 per cent to $36.87 billion in June

India's imports showed a rising trend in June 2011, climbing over 42 per cent year-on-year to $36.87 billion (Rs165,386 crore) from $25.88 billion (Rs120,529.51 crore) in June 2010.

India exported goods and services worth $29.21 billion (Rs131,031.43 crore) in June 2011, which was up 46.45 per cent in dollar terms and 41.06 per cent higher in rupee terms. Against this, exports from the country stood at $19.95 billion (Rs92,892.68 crore) during June 2010.

The cumulative value of the country's exports during April-June 2011-12 was $79.0 billion (Rs353,338.87 crore) against $54.22 billion (Rs247,574.57 crore) - a growth of 45.71 per cent in dollar terms and 42.72 per cent in rupee terms year-on-year.

India's imports during June 2011 were valued at $36,872.49 million (Rs165,386.41 crore), showing a growth of 42.46 per cent in dollar terms and a 37.22 per cent growth in rupee terms. India's imports were valued at $25,883.03 million (Rs120,529.51 crore) in June 2010.

Cumulative value of the country's imports during the period April-June 2011-12 was $110.61 billion (Rs494,763.07 crore) against $81.20 billion (Rs370,182.12 crore) - a growth of 36.22 per cent in dollar terms and 33.65 per cent in rupee terms over the same period last year.

India's trade deficit stood at $31.61 billion during April-June 2011-12 against $26.98 billion during April-June 2010-11.
