New Delhi: Matters would appear to be rapidly coming to a head for Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief, Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi, with the Supreme Court now set to hear a petition filed by them challenging the Patna High Court's decision to admit the state's appeal against their acquittal in a disproportionate assets case. The appeal, an offshoot of the multi-crore fodder scam, has been listed for hearing today.

It will come up for hearing before a bench of chief justice KG Balakrishnan and justice BS Chauhan. Due for hearing on Tuesday, the matter was deferred by a day owing to paucity of time.

Lalu Prasad Yadav has been busy of late trying to bring down the ruling UPA coalition at the centre, which has shown the temerity to take up the Women's Reservation Bill much against his wishes. Earlier, a cosy relationship of long standing with the Congress Party broke down over seat sharing arrangements in the course of state elections to the Bihar Assembly. Relationships have been deteriorating ever since.
