Vice Admiral BS Randhawa takes over as chief of materials, Indian Navy

Vice admiral Birinder Singh Randhawa, AVSM, VSM, has assumed charge as chief of material at the integrated headquarters, ministry of defence (Navy) as of 1 December 2007.

 

The post fell vacant on the supernnuation of vice admiral DSP Verma.

 

Vice admiral Randhawa is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 01 Jan 1969. He graduated in marine engineering from the Naval Collage of Engineering and completed post-graduation from the Royal Naval Engineering College, UK, in the same discipline.

 

The admiral is the senior most technical officer of the Indian Navy and has held a number of important assignments both at sea and ashore. He was also Controller Warship Production & Acquisition, prior to taking up the present assignment.
