Congress MLA booked for inciting mob to burn police station in MP

The Madhya Pradesh authorities today registered an FIR against Shakuntala Khatik, Congress MLA from Karera constituency in Shivpuri district, who was caught on camera inciting a mob to set a police station on fire in protest against the alleged killing of five farmers in police firing in Mandsaur.

Reports quoting police sources at Karena said another person, `Venus Goyal’ has also been booked for inciting violence with intention to damage public property.

A video posted by Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga on Friday showed the Congress lawmaker urging her supporters to burn a local police station in Madhya Pradesh. “exposed Congress' 'dirty politics',” says the video.

The video shows the MLA being surrounded by supporters and local residents while she eggs on her supporters to burn the local police station.

The MLA was leading a protest march during which her supporters burnt the effigy of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan over the recent killing of farmers in police firing in Mandsaur.

Local police party poured water on the effigy in a bid to douse the fire, during which the MLA was partially drenched. the MLA and her supporters then turned to the police and later sat in protest.

With the incident getting media attention, the Congress lawmaker later denied any wrongdoing and even blamed the police for misbehaving with her.

Another video had earlier showed Congress MLA Jeetu Patwari indulging in altercation with sub divisional magistrate Sandeep Soni in Indore.

In the video, Soni was seen telling Patwari that he had promised him peaceful protest.

“Will you now take responsibility for the flared-up violence,” Soni could be seen asking Patwari in the video.
