Pakistan's army again resorted to unprovoked firing at Indian positions on the Line of Control (LoC) today, a day after the chiefs of the two countries' border forces agreed to respect the ceasefire.

Defense spokesman Manish Mehta said in Jammu and Kashmir's winter capital Jammu, "Pakistan's army violated ceasefire today (Friday) by resorting to unprovoked firing at our positions in Hamirpur sector.

"Pakistan firing started at 4 am and continued till 5 am. They used small arms and automatics. Our troops effectively and appropriately responded to Pakistan firing," he said.

The ceasefire violation by Pakistan came a day after the chiefs Pakistan`s Rangers and India`s Border Security force agreed to ensure that the bilateral ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan is respected in letter and spirit.

Pakistan army has violated the ceasefire continuously for the last three days on the LoC in Poonch district.

Lance Naik Bhupender Singh was hit in the abdomen by a sniper bullet during ceasefire violation by Pakistan army in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district on Thursday.
