New Delhi: India's Defence and Research Development Organisation (DRDO) and its British counterpart, the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory have signed a Letter of Arrangement (LOA) which will facilitate collaborative research and industry academia participation in defence technology.

The LOA was signed by DRDO chief and scientific adviser to defence minister Dr VK Saraswat and United Kingdom's chief scientific adviser (CSA) Sir Mark Welland on 16 September in London, DRDO officials said here.

"The signing of LOA marks an important milestone in the technical collaboration between the two countries and a number of projects are being planned to commence in coming months," they said.

Expressing confidence that the LOA will further strengthen technical collaboration and mutual relations between the two countries, Welland said, "India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and is a power house of technology."

Indian and British scientists will be working together on technologies to face their country's defence and security challenges, thanks to the new agreement, Welland said.
