Delhi rioter Shahrukh who trained gun on policeman arrested from UP's Shamli

The police while tracking Shahrukh's phone found that he had gone to Panipat from Delhi's Maujpur first, before hiding in different cities of western Uttar Pradesh, including Kairana and Amroha, before reaching Shamli.

According to the police, the family of the accused had also disappeared after the incident. 

An IANS report citing Delhi Police sources on Monday said many suspicious articles were found in Shahrukh Khan`s house, including inflammable objects in polythenes. 

At least 10 teams of the Special Cell of Delhi Police conducted searches in multiple cities of Uttar Pradesh, including Kairana and Shamli in search of the accused. Shahrukh had been on the run ever since the 24 February shooting.

"The day on which the communal violence broke out in northeast Delhi, I was called for emergency duty from my training centre. Suddenly a man in a maroon colour T-shirt came charging at me and threatened to shoot me. He could have opened fire at me, but I remained calm and did not show my fear." Deepak Dahia, the head constable who faced Sharrukh told reporters earlier. 

"He could have fired at me but I showed my stick to him and dared him to do so. I also warned him with the stick. I stayed put in front of him and asked him to put down the gun. It worked and the man retreated firing in the air," he had stated.

"In fact, I was deployed in the northeast district on Monday (24 February) on emergency duty. My training is going on at Wazirabad Delhi Police Training Centre. I was recruited in Delhi Police in 2012 as a constable," Dahia, who faced Shahrukh, said,

"It was because of the police training that I gathered guts to confront this man," the cop who stared at death during communal violence added.

The communal violence that broke out in northeast Delhi resulted in the killing of at least 46 people and destruction of property worth crores of rupees.
