IAF to station combat aircraft, install radar in Mizoram

Aizwal: The Indian Air Force is preparing to install a surveillance radar and station four combat aircraft in the strategically located north-eastern state of Mizoram.

Survey work for acquisition of land at Zokhawtlang in south Mizoram is underway, which will be needed for installation of the radar. In this regard a meeting has already taken place between Air Marshal KK Nohwar, aoc-in-c, eastern air command, and chief minister Lal Thanhawla.

Air Marshal Nohwar said since the IAF to station atleast four combat aircraft at the Lengpui airport, land would be required for the construction of four blast pens.

Modern facilities including schools, amusement parks and canteens would also be constructed to benefit the local population, the statement said.
