Volkswagen launches new Vento TSI priced at Rs9.99 lakh

Volkswagen, Europe's largest carmaker, yesterday announced the launch of the new Vento TSI, priced at Rs9.99 lakh (ex showroom Delhi).
The new Vento TS is powered by a fuel-efficient 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which delivers 105 PS of power @ 5000 rpm as also a maximum torque of 175 Nm. It also features a high-tech 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox for outstanding acceleration and ease of driving, without compromising on fuel economy, according to the company's statement.
The German carmaker's critically acclaimed forced-induction TSI engines are compact, powerful, and use less fuel as against the bigger, normally-aspirated engines. The engines also deliver higher torque output at relatively lower engine speeds, making them responsive as also fuel-efficient in a wide range of operating conditions, the carmaker said.
Commenting on the launch of the new Vento TSI, Arvind Saxena, managing director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said, with the new Vento TSI, Volkswagen took the lead with producing cars that were high-tech, powerful and fuel-efficient. He added, with a turbocharged petrol engine, and 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, the Vento TSI provided excellent performance and fuel economy.
A host of safety features have also been built into the car, including anti-lock brakes, an electronic stabilisation programme, hill-hold function, dual frontal airbags, 3-point seatbelts at the front and an electronic engine immobiliser with floating code.
According to Saxena, its class-leading build quality and high levels of fit and finish, the Vento TSI would be the car of choice for discerning buyers.
Apart from the Vento, Volkswagen also sold the Polo, the Jetta, the Passat and the Touareg in India.
The sedan is also fitted with a 7 speed DSG automatic gearbox for ease of driving without compromising on fuel economy. According to the company the vehicle delivers a mileage of 16.93 kmpl per litre (ARAI Certified).
The new Vento would initially be available in 6 colours. The availability would initially be across selected cities in the country.
On the exterior, the TSI gets 'lakeside alloy wheels', halogen headlamps with black finish, chrome finish on the trunk, while on the interior car comes with leather seats.
