Mumbai: The Rs 100-crore Thermax Babcock & Wilcox (TBW) has received an order worth euro 1.4 million from Irish Refining for a new water tube boiler.

Irish Refining is part of the Conoco-Phillips group, which is the world’s largest refinery company. This is a breakthrough order for TBW from the Conoco group and will be the first boiler export to Europe.

The boiler design complies with the most exacting and special refinery standards, which were specified for the boiler by Irish Refinery. This boiler will be an additional one to the existing boiler in the oldest refinery in Ireland situated in Whitegate.

Says TBW vice-president (front end) Ravinder Advani, who is directly associated with ME Engineering in the UK: “With the best-in-class design and engineering capabilities that Thermax Babcock and Wilcox has, through their domestic and overseas contracts in 14 countries, it is high time they are recognised so in Europe as well.”

Says TBW manager (international marketing) Ashok Prusty: “We won the project jointly with ME Engineering, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Thermax group, in the UK. Mott-McDonald was the engineering and product evaluating group for this project. This gives TBW an opportunity to come across as yet another world-class engineering company.”
