Tesla Motor's chief Elon Musk tweeted that the company was building a robotic charger capable of detecting the electric car that needed to recharge, automatically pop out of its wall space and connect itself to the required outlet on the automobile www.mobiletor.com reported.

The charger would be compatible with all the Model S cars sold by Tesla and not just the ones that the company would launch in the future.

Musk added that at this point fans and customers did not quite think of the robotic device as a creation which would take years to hit the market.

However, Musk had been silent about the time frame when Tesla Motors' solid metal snake charger would actually be available to users.

According to www.gizmodo.com.au, the idea was not that far-fetched and only a couple of weeks ago, a video of OC Robotics' Series II - X125 system snakebot, which could be used for a number of practical purposes, was seen.

Also the Biorobotics Lab at Carnegie Mellon University had been working on robotic snakes for years.
