Mumbai:
Tata Technologies'' engineering and design (E&D) facilities,
at Hinjawadi near Pune, have been assessed at the CMMI
L3, while the entire organisation has been assessed at
the PCMM L4. This makes Tata Technologies the only end-to-end
automotive-focused E&D services company in India to
be assessed at both levels and makes it the leader in
this sphere.
The
Capability Maturity Model Integration or CMMI is a model
for improving and appraising the performance of development
organisations. It is published and developed by the Software
Engineering Institute of the Carnegie Mellon University
in Pittsburgh, USA.
The
assessments were conducted in February this year by teams
led by SEI-authorised lead appraisers, Gururaj Managuli
and Rajesh Naik, from the QAI, India. These assessments
are confirmation that, in the short time since its inception,
Tata Technologies has institutionalised its passionate
commitment to quality in order to fully meet the expectations
of its global clients.
Cmmenting
on this significant development, Patrick McGoldrick, managing
director, Tata Technologies, aid, "While software
developers have been able to extract benefits from the
older SEI CMM, CMMI now allows Tata Technologies to bring
best practices to engineering and design to ensure our
products and services fully meet customer expectations.
While our software activities have also been assessed,
the granting of CMMI L3 for Tata Technologies'' engineering
and design activities raises the bar for automotive E&D
providers."
Dr.
Asha Naik, head of human resources at Tata Technologies,
said, "This assessment at PCMM Level 4, is a recognition
of our best-in-class people processes. At Tata Technologies
we are committed to foster a set of global best practices
which equips our employees to meet the challenges posed
by an exacting and dynamic environment, positioning us
as an employer of choice for the most capable talent in
the our industry worldwide."
