Tata Motors sales up 20.3 per cent

Mumbai: Tata Motors reported a 20.3 per cent increase in its sales during July 2004 at 30,057 vehicles.

Cumulative sales for the period April-July 2004 stood at 1,14,975 vehicles (86,013 vehicles), representing a growth of 33.7 per cent.

Sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market were 13,215 units, an increase of 16 per cent, over 11,384 units in the year-ago period. Medium and heavy commercial vehicle sales, at 9,136 units, were up by 17.4 per cent in July.

For the April-July period, sales of commercial vehicles in the domestic market were 53,092 units, a growth of 39.6 per cent.

Passenger vehicle business improved its previous highest sales of June 2004, with sales of 15,275 vehicles in July 2004. This was 25.4 per cent higher over the year-ago period.
Cumulative sales stood at 56,056 vehicles.

Indica surpassed the previous highest sales of June 2004 by achieving a sale of 9,534 cars in July 2004. Cumulative sales of Indica were 34,570 units, 37 per cent higher over the year-ago period.

Indigo sales for July stood at 3,296 vehicles and for the April-July period at 12,267.

Tata Motors's exports stood at 1,567 units for July, an increase of 9.6 per cent.
