Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle launches Novus, the next generation truck

Daewoo Commercial Vehicle, now rechristened Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Co Ltd after joining Tata Motors has introduced the heavy-duty truck model 'Novus' in the Korean market.

Novus features a high performance, environment-friendly electronic engine, a new look cabin and a host of other convenience and safety features.

The high performing electronic engine mounted in Novus has been specially designed for Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle (TDCV) to meet the rigid environmental standard of Euro III and compete in international markets.

Come July, The Korea 2004, an environmental regulation banning the production of vehicles mounting normal Euro II engines, will be applied to medium to heavy-duty trucks and buses. TDCV has applied Bosch's common rail fuel injection system for the first time in Korea on heavy-duty trucks and developed a new engine that satisfies Euro III and Korea 2004. The new truck is claimed to be more reliable, safer and more fuel-efficient than existing engines.

Additional safety features include a Jake brake system, ABS / ASR and an emergency steering system (ESS). Also, it hosts a web-mounting chassis, a new style cabin and comfortable ergonomic cabin interiors.

Unveiling the new product, Ratan N. Tata, chairman, Tata Motors, said, "We are very pleased that a new vehicle complying with Euro III regulation is being launched by Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle. It will strengthen the company's product offerings and enable it to compete well in Korea and beyond Korea in other international markets."
