Tata Power’s green energy capacity rises to 3,133 MW

Tata Power on Tuesday announced that the company's total generation capacity from non-fossil fuel sources stands at 3,133 MW.

Its wind generation capacity has increased by 82 per cent, up from 591 MW in 2015-16 to 1074 MW in 2016-17, and solar generation capacity has increased from 60 MW in 2015-16 to 990 MW in 2016-17, statistics made available on Tuesday indicated.

"Tata Power's robust non-fossil fuel portfolio comprises 693 MW of hydro, 990 MW of solar, 1074 MW of wind, and 375 MW of waste gas based generation," a spokesperson said. "Taking a step further towards building a greener portfolio last year, the company revised its share of non-fossil fuel based capacity up to 35-40 % by 2025."

"Tata Power has several renewable energy projects located in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The company is also in the process of implementing nearly 500 MW of renewable power projects at various locations," the spokesperson added.
