Tata Motors’ global sales up 13 per cent in August

Tata Motors' global vehicle sales rose 13 per cent in August from a year earlier, with sales of 97,225 units during the month. This includes the sales at its subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).

Tata Motors, which is part of the salt-to-steel Tata Group, recorded an 11 per cent increase in cumulative sales to 4.75 lakh vehicles during April-August 2012, compared with the corresponding period in 2011-12, the company said in a statement.

The company's global sales of passenger vehicles rose 23 per cent to 47,141 units. Cumulative sale of passenger vehicle for the fiscal so far rose 20 per cent to 2.47 lakh.

Tata Motors' sales of its UK-based luxury brand Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) rose 13 per cent to 24,060 vehicles during the reporting month.

Tata Motors, India's largest vehicle maker, acquired JLR brands from Ford Motor Co in 2008 for $2.3 billion.

Jaguar sales for August were 2,960 vehicles and cumulative sales for the April-august period were at 18,798 vehicles. Land Rover sales for the month were 21,100 units with cumulative sales of 1.16 lakh vehicles, it said.
