Tata Motors sales rise 12 per cent in February

Tata Motors has reported a 12 per cent year-on-year increase in sales (including exports) in February 2011, at 77,543 vehicles against 69,427 vehicles sold in February 2010. Domestic sales of Tata commercial and passenger vehicles grew 10 per cent in February 2011 to 73,039 units from over 66,190 units sold in February last year. 

Cumulative sales (including exports) of the company so far during the fiscal (April-February 2010-11) grew 27 per cent to 719,959 units against 567,535 units sold in the comparable period of the previous financial year.

Domestic sales of commercial vehicles in February grew 5 per cent to 41,130 units compared with 39,205 vehicles the company sold in February last year. LCV sales were up 8 per cent at 23,498 units over February last year. Sales of medium and heavy commercial vehicles (M&HCV) rose by a marginal 1 per cent to 17,632 units compared to February 2010 sales.

Cumulative domestic sales of commercial vehicles for the financial year so far grew 20 per cent to 397,029 units year-on-year. Cumulative LCV sales grew 16 per cent to 228,239 units while M&HCV sales grew 26 per cent to 168,790 units year-on-year during the period.

Passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market rose 15 per cent to 33,751 units (including 31,909 Tata and 1,842 Fiat models) in February 2011 against sales of 29,238 units (26,985 Tata and 2,253 Fiat) in February last year.

Sales of Tata passenger vehicles grew 18 per cent to 31,909 units in February 2011. Tata Nano sold 8,262 units in February, posting a 101 per cent increase year-on-year.
