Star India unveiled its new corporate logo, Hot Star, and announced the launch of five of its key channels in the high definition (HD) format.

Speaking about the new corporate logo, Uday Shankar, chief executive officer, Star India, said, ''Our new corporate logo reflects the vigour and vitality of a new India that Star has been privileged to grow with.''

The new logo has been designed by London-based brand solutions company - Venture 3, which had created the current StarPlus logo. Hot Star will be promoted internally, the company said.

The HD rollout from Star India includes channels - Star Plus, Star Movies, Star Gold, Star World and Nat Geo, all of which will sport the HD mark on their respective logos.

Positioned as Asli HD, the channels will be available to viewers who have an HD television set, and who have subscribed the channels on DTH platforms. The content for the format will be shot in HD, recorded and edited in HD, and mixed for 5.1 Dolby surround sound.

To support the HD rollout, Star will be launching a marketing campaign starting Monday. The campaign will use The Times of India and Mint Mumbai and Delhi in the print stream; news channels and kids channels in addition to the Star network; OOH media in Mumbai.

Besides, Star will also use retail branding in stores such as Croma, Next, Vijay Sales and Kohinoor among others.

"With Star's massively popular entertainment channels turning HD, a high definition revolution is set to kick start in India,'' said Uday Shankar, chief executive officer, Star India.
