Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd has launched Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in India and has partnered with Bharti Airtel to offer double data benefit to the users of these models.

The Korean company's Indian R&D team was involved in the development of the S6 devices.

The S6 is priced at Rs49,900 (32 GB), Rs55,900 (64 GB) and Rs61,900 (128 GB), while S6 edge is priced at Rs58,900 (32 GB), Rs64,900 (64 GB) and Rs70,900 (128 GB).

''At Samsung, we remain sharply attuned to what India wants. We apply our passion and insights to improve the everyday lives of our consumers, giving people the power to discover new experiences. India is among the select 20 countries chosen by Samsung for the first phase launch of S6 and S6 edge, and rightly so given the Indian R&D team's valuable contribution in making these the world's most advanced smartphones,'' said Samsung India Electronics President and CEO H C Hong.

The phones are equipped with front and rear cameras, with F1.9 lenses and high resolution sensors on both front (5MP) and rear (16MP) cameras. In addition, auto real-time High Dynamic Range (HDR), smart optical image stabilisation (OIS) and IR detect white balance provide advanced light sensitivities and crisp camera solutions.

The devices work with any wireless pad available in the market that supports WPC and PMA standards. They also sport incredibly fast wired charging, 1.5 times faster than S5, providing about four hours of usage after only 10 minutes of charging.

The S6 and S6 edge will be available in India from April 10, 2015, in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, Blue Topaz (S6 only) and Green Emerald (S6 edge only).

While users on Airtel 4G will be able to enjoy double data benefit for a period of 6 months, 3G users can avail it for 2 months.
