French carmaker Renault has unvealed the all-new SUV, Captur, which is expected to be priced between Rs11 lakh and Rs15 lakh depending on the variant.

According to commentators, the Captur wears a strong and bold fascia, which enhances the appeal of the vehicle as an SUV. They point out that despite being based on a completely different platform, the Captur resembles the Kaptur, which is being sold in the other markets.

Over the past few years, Renault has notched sterling success in the Indian car market with the launch of compact SUV Duster and consolidated its position in the country with the massive success of its compact car Kwid. The Kwid averages monthly sale of about 7,500-8,000 units even two years post launch.

The carmaker, at one time held 5 per cent market share, although its share has recently slipped. Between April-August 2017, Renault commanded a market share of 3.29 per cent at 43,572 units, recording a decline of 24 per cent in sales against the same period last year.

According to commentators, the carmaker needs a product that can help it sustain and take the growth moment forward. The all-new Renault Captur is based on B) (pronounced as B Zero), the same platform used in the new Duster.

The Indian Captur measures 4,329 mm in length, it has a width of 1,813 mm and stands 1,619 mm tall. The crossover has the same wheelbase (2,673 mm) and ground clearance (210 mm) as the Duster. The production of the Captur has started at the Renault-Nissan alliance plant in Oragadam, Chennai.

According to commentators, the Captur is a feature-rich vehicle, which should cause competitors to take serious note.

They add, the Captur's stylish look gets a dash of elegance with Sapphire LED DRLs, dynamic turn signals (front only), satin finished skid plates, and 17-inch crystal cut alloy wheels, ripple tail-lights and dual-tone body colours.

Renault Captur can be personalised with a wide range of fashion-inspired dual tone body colours. There's also the option of enhancing the car's interior and exterior with 2 exclusive themed personalistion packs, along with a choice of elegant interior finishes, 16 unique roof crowner designs and 25+ aesthetic add-ons, including chrome embellishments and designer mats.
