New Delhi: Delhi-based Punj Lloyd Group today said that that it has won an EPC contract in consortium with Technicas Reunidas of Spain for the Shah Gas Development project in Abu Dhabi.

On completion, the gas field would pump around 1,000 MMSCFD of feed gas, which after processing would give more than 500 MMSCFD of fuel gas and 10,000 tons of sulphur per day.

The project has been awarded by Abu Dhabi Gas Development Company Ltd, and includes development of well pads, flow lines; inter pad lines, transfer lines and overhead lines. The consortium will also execute the gas gathering package for the project.

Once completed, the Shah Gas Development project will play a crucial and significant part in bridging the energy demand-supply gap of the state.

The project, valued at Rs2,056 crore, is scheduled to be completed by August 2014.

''The project is very challenging because of the magnitude of gas processed and treating of sour gas with very high sulphur content," says Ravindra Kansal, president and CEO, Middle East, Africa & Caspian Region, Punj Lloyd Ltd. "This will be one of the largest sour gas processing facilities in the world. We are proud to be part of this project.''

The UAE has the world's fifth-largest gas reserves and much of it is sour.
