NIIT signs ICT manpower training pact with Egyptian government

Mumbai: NIIT Ltd has entered into an agreement with Information Technology Institute (ITI), Cairo, under the ministry of communications & information technology of the Egyptian government, to build a pool of skilled professionals for the ICT industry in the country. The training major will offer its IT education programmes through the innovative ''NIIT Inside'' model integrated with the ITI curriculum.

NIIT has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect with Eng Mohamed A Salem, chairman of the Information Technology Institute, Cairo.

The Egyptian side expressed confidence that the alliance with NIIT will help the institute in building a large pool of trained ICT professionals for the country''s market.

G Raghavan, president of NIIT''s Individual Learning Business, who signed the MOU, said, "NIIT is committed to building a pool of skilled ICT professionals for the rapidly growing IT industry, across the globe."

The tie-up is aimed at facilitating and developing a meaningful and mutually beneficial relationship to foster ICT capacity building by way of class-room and online learning, he said.

"With this historic partnership, ITI and NIIT will jointly explore the possibility of introducing relevant programmes of NIIT in ICT and business skills in Egypt ".

ITI has trained thousands of students for over a decade and has been instrumental in providing local, regional and international markets with trained professionals in various IT domains who make up the backbone of the IT workforce in Egypt. In addition, ITI through its GOV training programme has trained 50,000 government employees and supervised the training of over 400,000 in government training centres.
