Chennai: Windmill major NEG Micon India has commissioned its new facility near Chennai, set up at an outlay of Rs 20 crore.

Spread across six acres, the facility will house both the windmill assembly area (30,000 sq ft) and the administrative block.

The plant has a total capacity to make 600 turbines, and 50 per cent of that would be exported. “The new plant will be NEG Micon’s (based in Denmark) global sourcing base for sub 1-MW capacity turbines,” says NEG Micon India managing director Ramesh Kymal.

The Indian plant is the fifth owned one for the Danish company.
