National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), the country's largest power producer, today announced plans to invest around Rs25,000 crore to set up two power projects in Odisha during the 12th Plan period.

The plants, with a combined capacity of 3200 MW, are proposed to be commissioned in the 12th plan, NTPC regional executive director (East-II), Jayadeb Nanda said in Bhubaneswar today.

The commissioning of the two plants will take total power generation capacity in the state to 4500 MW.

''Two super thermal power projects will be set up at Darlipali in Sundargarh district and Gajmara in Dhenkanal district at an approximate cost of over Rs24,000 crore,'' he said.

Nanda said land acquisition for the projects would likely be completed by June this year and the tendering process for plant and equipment will then follow.
