In a bid to push its Windows Phone operating system to users in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, Microsoft unveiled Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 handsets made by the Finnish-based Nokia, which it acquired last year.

The two Lumia handsets are set to begin rolling out in February, with prices for Lumia 435 being in the range of at €69 to €79 and the Lumia 532 priced at €79 euros.

The launch formed part of a goal strategy by Microsoft aimed at ''bringing devices to as many people and price points as possible,'' said Jo Harlow, corporate vice president for phones at Microsoft.

The less-expensive Lumia 435 comes with a 4-inch display and 2MP camera, while the 532 comes with the same display but includes a more powerful camera.

Both smartphones come with latest Windows Phone 8.1 operating system, Microsoft's Office suite including Word, Outlook for email, Skype, and up to 30GB of free cloud storage.

The Lumia 435 has a four-inch display, and modest two-megapixel camera, while the 532 comes with the same display but includes a more powerful camera and access to some high-speed networks.

It also supports dual SIM for using more than one phone number.
