Mumbai: Two engineering and construction (ECC) regions of Larsen & Toubro have received the ASCC-2002 safety award from the American Society of Concrete Contractors for achieving zero fatality rate during calendar 2001.

The two regions are Ahmedabad and Bangalore. The company says it is the third safety award that ECC has received from ASCC. The first was ASCC’s Safety Improvement Award in 1997 and the second was for Ahmedabad region (ASCC 2001).

The award is based on various criteria such as zero fatality rate, achievement of zero lost-time accident, lowest accident rate and safety improvement over the previous year. ECC’s safety management systems are now certified to ISO 9001 standards, conferring international recognition and compatibility with international norms. The scope of the certification covers development and provision of safety advisory services to over 270 project sites of ECC.
