The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has empanelled four agencies for its creative and media duties – Prachar Advertising, Pam, Span and Unnati.

All four agencies will be handling the Rs15-crore pan-India account for two years.

A tender for the account was floated two-and-a-half months ago and 35 agencies had applied, says K S Rao, director, marketing, KVIC.

Following three rounds of presentations, the four agencies were selected to handle 360-degree account comprising print, TV radio and outdoors. The campaigns are expected to break from next week.

The KVIC is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament in 1956 and in April 1957 it took over the work of former All India Khadi and Village Industries Board.

It has a social objective of providing employment, an economic objective of producing saleable articles, and the wider objective of creating self-reliance amongst the poor and building up of a strong rural community spirit.

Accordingly, it handles planning, promotion, organisation and implementation of programmes for the development of Khadi and other village industries in the rural areas in coordination with other agencies engaged in rural development wherever necessary.
